Job Title: (2) Casual Labor Cook Assistant

FLSA Status: $8.00 per hour/Temporary
Summary
Assists the head cook with the general preparations, serving of meals, delivering lunches to Elders and handi-cap residing on the Rancheria. Assist head cook in preparation of special dinner events and other functions for large amounts of people by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Washes, peels, cuts, and seeds vegetables and fruits.
- Cleans, cuts, and grinds meats, poultry, and seafood.
- Dips food items in crumbs, flour, and batter to bread them.
- Stirs and strains soups and sauces.
- Weighs and measures designated ingredients.
- Carries pans, kettles, and trays of food to and from work stations, stove, and refrigerator.
- Stores foods in designated areas.
- Cleans work areas, equipment and utensils, segregates and removes garbage, and steam cleans or hoses garbage
containers on a daily basis.
- Distributes supplies, utensils, and portable equipment.
- Deliver hot lunches on the Rancheria
- Rotate foods weekly/check dates
- Assist ordering weekly supplies
- Keep inventory of food supplies and paper products
- Shop for food and supplies when needed
- Must be willing to work weekends and nights when needed

Education and/or Experience:
- Must have High School Diploma or GED; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

- Must have experience in preparing, cooking meals and snacks for large groups.
- Must understand the requirements of proper cleaning and sanitation of the kitchen/concession area and utensils.
